Scott Gerstmar was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts and is currently living on Cape Cod. He has spent many years owning and operating various businesses in Massachusetts. Scott is the son of Martin K. Gerstmar and Nancy B. Gerstmar. He is married to Ellen Gerstmar, and has two children, Tim and Morgan, and a grandson Silas Sterling. He dearly loves his rescue dog, Max, a Staffordshire terrier. Scott is a multi-talented individual who has owned such diverse businesses in construction, real estate, and healthcare.

Passion for healthcare

Scott Gerstmar began his love of providing excellent healthcare to his community when he became an Emergency Medical Technician in 1990. Over the years he became an EMT examiner, coordinator for the Tisbury Police Ambulance Service, and president of the Martha’s Vineyard Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. In 1994 he was honored by becoming the Martha's Vineyard Association of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT of the year and in 1998 the Cape & Islands Emergency Medical Services EMT of the year. He was a leading force in bringing advanced life support to Martha’s Vineyard when these emergency services were desperately needed. He has been an American Heart Association instructor for 30 years and continues to teach various programs from first aid to CPR.

His passion for saving lives turned into the Henrietta Brewer House, an assisted living facility on Martha’s Vineyard, after caring for his grandmother in her final days in his own home. He wanted to create a home-like environment for the elderly when their family did not have the skills to be able to care for an aging family member in their own home.

With his expertise as a fence contractor, he has crafted creative and visually appealing fences, pergolas, arbors, trellises, and other outdoor structures, that perfectly complement their surroundings while providing security and privacy. Scott's proficiency as a carpenter is evident in his exceptional woodworking skills and ability to bring concepts to life. As a cabinet maker, Scott created stunning and functional cabinetry, windows, doors, and custom moulding and trim. Whether it's constructing intricate furniture or crafting exquisite outdoor structures, Scott's talent as a carpenter truly sets him apart from the rest. With his diverse skill set, Scott Gerstmar is a master of his craft and a trusted name in the construction industry.

An angler, car enthusiast, and traveler

Scott is a man of many passions. Fishing has brought him peace, grounding him amidst the chaos of everyday life. He has spent most of his time fishing locally and offshore in the Cape Cod area with friends and family. He has entered and placed in many fishing tournaments over the years.

He has cherished many different cars over the years–including a couple 911 Porsches, BMW M3 and Alfa Romeo GTV. When on vacation he retreats to his Airstream. Its polished exterior gleams under the sun, beckoning him to explore the open road. Inside his mobile sanctuary, he finds solace, embarking on epic journeys and indulging in moments of tranquility.

Scott’s love for fishing, cars, and his trusty Airstream allows him to embrace life fully, enjoying the thrill of the chase while cherishing the simplicity of nature.
